The Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge is located 190 kilometer (120 miles) southwest of the city of Iquitos, on the banks of the Marañon River. Surrounded by abundant rainforest, the lodge has been built in accordance with the architecture of the region and offers comfortable bungalows with private bathroom and terrace with view to the river. Connecting elevated walkways lead to the clubhouse, dining room, hammock room, watchtowers and hiking paths.
With guided excursions from here, you can visit the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, which is the largest protected natural area in Peru. This reserve is also well known as the 'Jungle of the Mirrors' due to the fact that the jungle and the sky are reflected so clearly in the dark waters of the rivers and lakes that you have the sensation of navigating throughout endless mirrors of water. The programs include visits to the local communities, hikes in primary rainforest, observation of flora and fauna, bird watching, canoe rides, fishing and many more. Founded more than 40 years ago, the Amazon Lodge offers an outstanding service in the Amazonian jungle. About one and a half hours form Iquitos by speedboat; the lodge is located on 900 hectares of primary lowland rainforest on the shores of the Yanayacu River. It is built entirely of local materials and can accommodate up to 80 guests in 40 twin-bedded comfortable bungalows with indoor baths and showers. There is also a large dining area, a bar and a comfortable hammock terrace. There is no electricity in the lodge, which could scare off local wildlife, but plenty of kerosene and gas lanterns for lighting at night.

The Amazon Lodge offers different tours according to your time and interest: excursions into the jungle, across lagoons, to Indian villages, caiman hunting, night canoe trips and a lot more. There are different excursion programs, from 1-day to 4-day tours, available.

About 80 km off Iquitos the Heliconia Amazon River Lodge is located right at the shores of the Amazon River in the Yanamono rainforest.
