MOLLEPATA TREK

This Trek with a duration of 5 days passes Salcantay and the Collpapampa valley until finally reaching Machu Picchu, the famous citadel of the Inca.

On the way through a marvillous landscape there can be seen great waterfalls and rivers. The Trek also passes tropical areas, where lots of Coca- palntations can be found. Not to forget the great diversity of orchidees that grow in this beatiful area.

DETAILED PROGRAM

Day 1: Cusco - Mollepata – Soraypampa (4000 m.s.n.m.)

09.00 am departure in private transport from the city of Cusco and passing bye Izcuchaca and Limatambo, arriving in Mollepata, where the car unit is changed in order to access more difficult roads until reaching Soraypampa. From Soraypampa onward the trekking begins. In Soraypampa after 5 hours journey you will set up first camp. Lunch, Tea time and afterwards dinner. Overnight. (Lunch, Tea Time, and Dinner included).

Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantaypampa – Huayracmachay (4000 m.s.n.m.)

Alter breakfast, begin trekking with mules and horses incase any emergency may occur. >From this point onwards we initiate a 5 hour trek reaching the highest point on the Salkantay Mountain at (4.800 m.a.s.l). Afterwards lunch will be served once we reach the Salkantaypampa sector. Later on continue the trek until reaching Huayracmachay this will be the camp site for the night. (Breakfast, Lunch, Tea Time and Dinner Included).

Day 3:Huayracmachay - Collpabamba – La Playa (2300 m.s.n.m.)

Alter a very good breakfast at 06:00 am we will start the most difficult part of our trek, departing at 07:00 am we will trek through the Valley of Collpabamba. After lunch we will continue descending 3-4 hours, passing bye Huayrac and entering at that point the beginning of the Peruvian Jungle. On the journey you will be able to appreciate the formation of rivers which afterwards convert themselves as the well known Urubamba River, from there on you will also appreciate a wide variety of Orchids and Catarats (Falls) of great magnitude until reaching the area called La Playa known as a small community in a subtropical region, here we will set up camp site for the night (Breakfast, Lunch, Tea Time and Dinner included).

Day 4: La Playa– Paltallacta – Hydroelectric – Aguas Calientes (2000 m.s.n.m.)

We will continue our journey and afterwards a comforting breakfast. From there on we will start an uphill trek to the area known as Llactapata, from where you will be able to observe the back side of the Machu Picchu citadel. On our route we will see various coca cultivation orchards or planes, known as the sacred leaf of the Incas, and are still cultivated for medicinal porpoises. The last part of the trek will be the down hill to the hydroelectric power plant. This place is about a 120 Km away from Aguas Calientes at this point we will await the arrival of the train in order to board it to Aguas Calientes. Check Inn and Lodging in Aguas Calientes. Day 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco (3,300 m.sn.m.)

Early in the morning, transfer by bus up hill 35 minutes to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Here onwards we initiate the guided visit of the lost city of the Incas, as well as a guided visit to the neighboring mountains of Huaynapichu or Intipunqu. In the afternoon return by train to Cusco. (Breakfast included)
