PROGRAMS PACAYA SAMIRIA AMAZON LODGE
The Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve, which is the largest protected
natural area in Peru, has a great and unique variety of flora and
fauna. The Reserve is also known as "Jungle of the Mirrors"
due the fact that the jungle and the sky are reflected so clearly
in the dark waters of its rivers and lakes, that the visitors will
also have the sensation of navigating throughout endless mirrors
of water. To explore this breath-taking landscape, various tours
are available.
In the following we present you different programs of the Pacaya
Samiria Amazon Lodge.

SAMIRIA AMAZON LODGE - 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS |
Day 1: Pacaya-Samiria Lodge - Amazon offspring - hike
Reception at the airport by one of the bilingual guides. Transfer
to Pacaya-Samiria Amazon Lodge taking 2 to 2.5 hours. While traveling
you are going to visit the confluence of the Ucayali and Marañon
river, where the Amazon river is born. Enjoy the spectacular view
from a 100 feet watching tower. Arrival to the lodge and accommodation
followed by a delicious lunch. In the afternoon, you will make your
first hike through the beautiful rainforest that surrounds the lodge
to appreciate rainforest flora and fauna. Depending of the climate
conditions, we will observe a beautiful sunset from our watchtower.
Yummy dinner and briefing about the activities of the next day.
Day 2: Japon and Plantano lakes - Yanayacu river
Before having had breakfast you will go on a bird watching trip
to see the astonishing jungle dawn. Afterwards you will start for
an excursion in search of gray and pink dolphins down the Yanayacu
river but also to observe flora and fauna. Visit to Japon and Plantano
lakes (cochas), with a great variety of palms, big trees and a beautiful
landscape. The black water of the river and lakes reflects with
the fidelity of a mirror, that is why this part of the rainforest
is known as the "jungle of the mirrors". Lunch (box lunch)
followed by swimming, Piranha fishing, bird watching, and identifying
of plants. After returning to the lodge you will have a tasty dinner.
Later in you can observe stars and planets while being told the
myths and legends.
Day 3: Riverbank village - Iquitos
After a good breakfast you will visit a riverbank village to get
to know more about river people lifestyle and their daily activities.
The people make their living hunting, gathering, fishing or from
agriculture. After lunch you will depart to the city of Iquitos.

to see the astonishing jungle dawn. Afterwards you start a boat
excursion to Nauta creek and the surrounding lakes (cochas) and
have the chance to observe flora and fauna (monkeys, sloths and
wide variety of aquatic birds). After lunch you can go swimming,
fishing and explore the seasonally flooded forest (flat lands flooded
each year by the seasonal rainfall). After returning to the lodge
a tasty dinner is prepared for you.

After an early morning breakfast, boat trip down the Yanayacu river.
You have the chance to observe gray and pink dolphins, aquatic birds,
river turtles, sloths, monkeys, parrots, and macaws. Before arriving
at the campground you can enjoy your box lunch. Arrival at campground.
In the afternoon and night excursions are planned including caiman
sightseeing and listening to the sounds of the jungle. The dinner
will be at the camping sites and you also spend the nigh in tents.
Day 4 : Riverside village - lodge
After having had breakfast you visit a riverside village to learn
about local peoples way of life. After lunch you start your trip
back to the lodge and spend your last night there.
Day 5: Lodge - Iquitos
Following breakfast you have the morning relax and have lunch before
departing to the city of Iquitos.

After an early morning breakfast, boat trip down the Yanayacu river
to the Yarina village. The travel last 4 to 5 hours. You have the
chance to observe gray and pink dolphins, aquatic birds, river turtles,
sloths, monkeys, parrots, and macaws. Before arriving at the campground
you can enjoy your box lunch. Arrival at campground. In the afternoon
and night excursions are planned including caiman sightseeing and
listening to the sounds of the jungle. The dinner will be at the
camping sites and you also spend the nigh in tents.
Day 4: Pona Lake - Yagua Creek
Breakfast followed by a hike through primary rainforest to Pona
Lake to observe flora and fauna. Returning for lunch, you make a
canoe trip down the Yagua Creek in the afternoon. Before spending
the night at the camp ground you have dinner and briefing about
the activities of the next day.
Day 5: Riverside village - lodge
After having had breakfast you visit a riverside village to learn
about local peoples way of life. After lunch you start your trip
back to the lodge and spend your last night there.
Day 6: Departure to Iquitos
Following breakfast you have the morning relax and have lunch before
departing to the city of Iquitos.
