CUSCO AND CANDAMO

Duration: 8 days
Places: Lima - Cusco - Puerto Maldonado

Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Pickup at the international airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima
City tour and visit of the Archaelogical Museum.

Day 3: Lima / Cusco
Transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco. In the morning, acclimatization and in the afternoon, city tour and visit of the surrounding ruins of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and Sacsayhuamán.

Day 4: Cusco / Sacred Valley
Visit of the Indian Market in Pisaq (open on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday). Tour through the valley of Urubamba to the fortress of Ollantaytambo. On the return, halt in Chinchero where you can find the ruins of the manor of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui.

Tag 5: Cusco / Machu Picchu / Cusco
Transfer to the train station of Cusco and three hour trip by train to Aguas Calientes. Pickup and transfer to the citadel of Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Inca. After your guidance, you have enough spare time to explore Machu Picchu on your own. In the afternoon, return to Cusco by train.

Day 6: Cusco / Puerto Maldonado / Wasai Lodge
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and flight to Puerto Maldonado. Transfer to the Wasai Maldonado Ecolodge and reception with a fruity welcome drink. Afterwards, four hour boat trip on the river Tambopata to the Wasai Tambopata Lodge & Research Center (lunchbox aboard). Observation of the variety of animals and rainforest villages. Excursion, return to the lodge and dinner.

Day 7: Wasai Lodge
At 04:30 in the morning one hour trip on the Tambopata river to the Bahuaja National Park - Sonene. During the sunrise, you can observe jaguars, tapirs and parrots. Excursion to observe monkeys and return to the lodge to have breakfast. Afterwards, ethno-botanical trip to discover animals and plants. Return to the lodge for having lunch. In the afternoon, you can relax and swim close to a waterfall. After dinner, you can take part in an excursion to look for caimans.

Day 8: Puerto Maldonado / Lima / return flight
After breakfast, return to Puerto Maldonado and transfer to Lima or Cusco.

Duration: 15 days
Places: Lima - Ballestas Islands - Nazca - Arequipa - Colca Canyon - Puno - Sillustani - Lake Titicaca - Cusco

Day 1: Arrival in Lima
Pickup at the international airport and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima
City tour and visit of the Museum for Anthropology and Archaeology.

Day 3: Ballestas Islands / Nazca
In the morning, trip to Paracas and boat excursion to the Ballestas Islands. Observation of sea lions, pinguins, pelicans and other seabirds. Return and halt at “Candelabro”, at a giant figure in Nazca style. In the afternoon, trip to Nazca.

Day 4: Nazca / Arequipa
Optional: transfer to the airport of Nazca. Overflight of 45 minutes over the lines of Nazca. In the afternoon, trip to Arequipa, also known as “the white city”.

Day 5: Arequipa
City tour and visit of the abbey Santa Catalina.

Day 6: Arequipa / Colca Canyon
In the morning, trip of approximately four hours to the second deepest canyon of the world, the Colca Canyon with a depth of 3.400 meters. Passing the “Pampa Cañahuas“ in the National Park Aguada Blanca, which is the habitat for many vicunas and alpacas. Transfer to your hotel in the Colca Canyon. Time for acclimatization. Optional: excursion o the thermal spring “La Calera” in the early evening.

Day 7: Cross of the Condors
In the morning, trip to the “Cruz del Condor”. Observation of the biggest raptors in free nature. On your way back, visit of several villages in the canyon, for example Yanque, Coporaque, Achoma and Maca.

Day 8: Arequipa / Puno / Sillustani
Ride over the high plateau to Puno. Visit of the grave towers in Sillustani. Arrival in Puno.

Day 9: Lake Titicaca / Floating Islands of Uros / Taquile
Boat trip on Lake Titicaca to the Floating Islands of the Uros. Continuation to the island of Taquile where Quechua people are still living. Lunch on the island of Taquile. Hike to the archaeological places on the hills of the island. In the afternoon, return to Puno and transfer to the hotel.

Day 10: Puno / Cusco
In the morning, 10 hour ride to Cusco. Passing the range of Vilcanota with its snowcapped summits “La Raya” and “Kunurana”. After arrival in Cusco, transfer to the hotel.

Day 11: Cusco
City tour and visit of the surrounding ruins of Kenko, Tambomachay, Puca Pucara and Sacsayhuamán.

Day 12: Cusco / Sagred Valley
Visit of the Indian Market in Pisaq (open on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday). Tour through the valley of Urubamba to the fortress of Ollantaytambo. On the return halt in Chinchero, where you can find the ruins of the manor of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui.

Day 13: Cusco / Machu Picchu / Aguas Calientes

10 hour ride from Cusco to Puno. Passing of the Andean city Andahuaylillas and halt in Raqchi. On the way, you will see herds of vicunas and lamas. Passing the range of Vilcanota with its snowcapped summits “La Raya” and “Kunurana”. After arrival in Cusco transfer to the hotel.

Day 8: Lake Titicaca / Floating Islands of Uros / Taquile
Boat trip on Lake Titicaca to the Floating Islands of the Uros. Continuation to the island of Taquile where Quechua people are still living. Lunch on the island of Taquile. Hike to the archaeological places on the hills of the island. In the afternoon, return to Puno and transfer to the hotel.

Day 9: Puno / Chullpas of Sillustani
Visit of the grave towers of Sillustani. Observation of typical birds in this region. Return to Puno.

Day 10:  Puno / La Paz / Tiawanacu
In the morning, you will go by bus to La Paz (Bolivia). Halt in the city of Chuchuito and visit of the temples of fertileness (Inca Ullo). Afterwards, visit of the catholic church of July and Pomata. In the city Desaguadero, you will traverse the international bridge which combines Peru with Bolivia. Visit of the pre-Inca citadel of Tiawanacu and the famous Door of Sole (Puerta del Sol). Continuation of your journey to La Paz. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 11: La Paz
Visit of the moon valley which is similar to the surface of the moon. Afterwards, return to your hotel.

Day 12: La Paz / return flight
Transfer to the airport and international return flight.
